Sustainable Witham Friary is a group of friendly people working together to promote sustainable living within our wonderful village of Witham Friary and to ensure that sustainability is at the heart of future planning for the village. We organise events and share information, we liaise with other groups within the village and with other villages in the parish. 
 

Sustainable Witham was set up in 2019 as a response to the climate and ecological emergency.  Our main aim is to share information on practical ways that we, both as a village and as individual villagers, can do our bit to ensure a positive impact on our environment.  None of us can save the planet on our own, but Sustainable Witham feels strongly that individual efforts matter.  We are looking for realistic ways we can cut our own carbon footprint, decrease our use of plastic and live more sustainably, increasing biodiversity and doing what we can to encourage wildlife in the village. We also wish to support Mendip District Council’s climate emergency plan to take care of the environment, leaving it in a good condition for generations to come and lead the way for Mendip to be carbon neutral by 2030.
